Laudato Si

The Laudato Si is a letter from Pope Francis to everyone on the planet urging all of us to protect the earth; our common home. The earth is God's gift to us, full of beauty and wonder, where the fruits of the earth belong to everyone.

This term the children have all heard and retold both Creation stories in Genesis 1 and 2 and have thought about what these stories teach us about God and how we should live our lives. This academic year, we have decided to work together to care for our common home and will be updating this page regularly with the work the children are completing in school. Keep checking regularly!

Meat-Free Wednesday

Children in all classes have been thinking about their actions and how they can make changes to have a positive effect on our environment.

As a school, we have also made some changes…

Did you know about Meat-free Wednesday at Holy Cross?

To produce 1 kg of beef it takes 12kg of grain meaning  anyone eating meat every day may be consuming a disproportionate amount of the world’s available nutrients. Approximately 800 million people on the planet suffer from hunger or malnutrition, yet the amount of cereal which could feed three times this number of people - is fed to cattle, pigs and chickens.

Therefore, school lunch will be vegetarian on Wednesdays from now. Why don’t you join in at home too, by choosing a day a week to go vegetarian?
